Guns In Chicago

Chicago made an unconstitutional law that effectively BANNED the purchase and ownership of guns in the city. It was a law that was patently unconstitutional and was “struck down” by District Judge Edmond Chang. Chicago gun-haters are incensed. They put up a montage of kids who were killed by guns and most of them were killed by ILLEGALLY-OWNED guns—in the hands of other gang members--which this unconstitutional law would not have changed a whit. But don’t try and tell that to the gun-haters. They don’t use logic. They only use their unreasoning hatred of guns. Luckily, there is one intelligent judge who declared the ordinance unconstitutional. Of course, Chi will take it all the way to the Supreme Court, and hopefully there will be a few intelligent Justices there. Judge Chang acknowledged there is a major problem with guns in Chicago, but failed to demonstrate how allowing the sale of firearms would pose a “serious risk” to society. And he’s right. They need to target illegal USE of firearms, not general ownership by honest people. (L. A. Times)
