In Great Britain, it’s almost impossible for individuals to get
guns. That’s supposed to “end gun crime.” It does not. Gun
crime is still very high, and “knife crime” is on the rise, which
again proves my contention that if the bad guys cannot get guns to
use in committing their crimes, they’ll find something else. Now
they are passing stiffer laws to limit the use of knives, hoping
preventing the law-abiding from having knives will keep the
law-breakers from getting them.
It predictably does not work, leading to their current efforts to get
rid of the POINTS on knives, to prevent them from being able to
effectively stab people with them. Of course, that ignores the fact
that they can still slash, which can still effectively seriously
injure of kill somebody. Of course, it is impossible to eliminate
knives entirely because they have many uses, and to get rid of them
entirely would cripple society. But the politicians seem unable to
understand that, and they keep working to make knives inaccessible to
anybody whose job doesn’t require them. Which is an impossibility,
but that’s something else they just can’t understand. (The Telegraph)
